08-58 That the Township of McKellar hereby give By-law No. 2008-07, being a by-law to appoint a municipal weed inspector, First and Second reading.

08-63 That the Township of McKellar accept the proposal of Parry Sound Ambulance Communication Centre for the provision of Fire Department dispatch services and instruct the Clerk to draft a by-law to enter into a dispatch agreement.

08-64 That the Township of McKellar cancel Fire Department dispatch services with Peerless Security.

08-65 That the Township of McKellar endorse the Town of Amherstburg's resolution requesting that the Province of Ontario provide "the immediate necessary funding to Ontario Municipalities to finance the costs of the mandated Lead Testing for Municipal Drinking Water."

08-66 That the Township of McKellar endorse the Town of New Market's resolution requesting the Premier of Ontario "to take action to eliminate the misuse of disabled parking permits and parking spaces, including but not limited to such actions as:

- Ensure the Justices of the Peace enforce the minimum fines that apply to offenders
- Provide for a two point penalty on the offender's driver's licence
- Require people who hold a disabled parking permit to obtain a special photo identification card
- Provide for minimum fines for those who block disabled parking spaces (ie. using disabled parking spaces for
   snow storage)."

08-67 WHEREAS the World Wildlife Fund's inaugural Earth Hour took place in Sydney Australia in 2007 with more than 2.2 million people participating and resulted in a ten percent drop in energy usage;
AND WHEREAS the World Wildlife Fund launched Earth Hour 2008, to be held at 8:00 p.m. Saturday March 29, 2008, a global initiative in which cities and communities will turn off their lights for one hour to symbolize their leadership and commitment to finding solutions for climate change;

AND WHEREAS Earth Hour gives citizens a chance to be part of an international community committed to reducing global warming pollution and turning off the lights for an hour is a thoughtful and symbolic action everyone can take which sends a clear message that action is possible and inaction is unacceptable. And during Earth Hour, governments, businesses, community leaders and individuals will be turning off their lights and switching on their support for actions that can help make a difference in the most significant challenge facing the world today;

NOW THEREFORE be it resolved that the Council of the Township of McKellar does hereby proclaim Saturday March 29, 2008 from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. as "Earth Hour" in the Township of McKellar and urge the citizens of the Township of McKellar to participate in the Earth Hour challenge.
