07-255 That the Township of McKellar accept the minutes of the November 5, 2007 Council meeting as circulated.

Visitors: Mr. Gord Zulak was present to update Council on the Aggregate Resources Act and the funding assistance now available for the preparation of site plans for Class B licence holders. Mr. Zulak also presented Council with correspondence he received from Norm Miller, M.P.P. and Tony Clement, M.P. regarding municipal voting privileges.

Mrs. Myrna Fenton, on behalf of Mrs. Sharon Sheffield, was present to request that Council provide year round maintenance on Lakeview Crescent. Reeve Moore indicated to Mrs. Fenton that the road has been surveyed and the Township is currently obtaining cost estimates to bring the roads up to a year round standard for the ratepayers consideration under the Local Improvement provisions of the Municipal Act. Mrs. Fenton requested that Council consider a motion to provide year round maintenance, especially snow ploughing this winter.

Mr. Jim McColl and Mr. John Foley were present to discuss a proposal to form the McKellar Community Enhancement Committee. Discussion ensued regarding the mandate of the committee. Council authorized the Committee to meet in the Council Chambers.

07-256 That the Township of McKellar accept the proposal of USTI Canada in the amount of $20,930.00 for the supply and installation of municipal software as per proposal.

07-257 That the Township of McKellar advertise the following Christmas hours:

Township Office Closed                                    December 24th - January 1, 2008 inclusive

Waste Transfer Site Closed                               December 25th, 26th and January 1, 2008

07-258 That the Township of McKellar endorse the City of Waterloo's resolution calling on the Federal government to review and confirm the safety and efficacy of all chemical pesticides that have been approved for use in Canada and calling on the Provincial Government to review and verify the safety of all chemical pesticides that the provincial government or provincial agencies have approved for sale and use in the Province of Ontario.

07-259 That the Township of McKellar endorse the Municipality of Morris-Turnberry's resolution requesting the Provincial Government to "develop a program that will provide a rebate for the tire disposal, either a new program or an enhancement to the current Stewardship Ontario program."

07-260 That the Township of McKellar authorize the Reeve and Clerk to sign the attached Memorandum of Understanding with the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit regarding the establishment and maintenance of a municipal reserve fund.

07-261 That the Township of McKellar appoint Morgan Ten-Hoeve and Stan Fairchild to the McKellar Township Volunteer Fire Department and appoint Firefighter Bill Meeks as Captain.

07-262 That the Township of McKellar authorize the Reeve and Clerk to renew the Fire Chief's contract as per attached.

07-263 That the Township of McKellar endorse the Township of Machar's resolution petitioning the Province of Ontario to provide adequate funding for rural schools and to place a freeze on any school closures in the Near North District School Board.
