07-29 That the Township of McKellar accept the minutes of the January 22, 2007 Council meeting as circulated.

Visitors: Mr. Fred Kemp and Mr. Chris Huibers representing the McKellar Sunshine Club were present to request that Council consider reducing the rental fee charged to the senior group at the Community Centre. Reeve Moore thanked the gentlemen for their presentation and stated that Council would discuss their request.

07-30 That the Township of McKellar approve Voucher #1 in the amount of $137,091.42 as follows:

07-34 WHEREAS the Liberal party promised during the 2003 election campaign to increase funding to long term care homes by $6,000 per resident per annum;

AND WHEREAS

funding increases for direct care and services to residents to date represent $2,307 or just over a third of the government's $6,000 promise;

AND WHEREAS

significant investment is needed now to meet the immediate needs of residents;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED

that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of McKellar urges this government to increase the per diem to residents of long term care homes in the fiscal year 2006-2007 by $3,693 per resident, thereby fulfilling its election promise made in 2003;

AND FURTHER

that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Premier, the Minister of Health and Long Term Care and M.P.P. Norm Miller.

07-35 That the Township of McKellar endorse the Town of Minto's resolution petitioning the Federal Minister responsible for infrastructure and COMRIF and the Provincial Minister of Public Infrastructure Renewal "to reimburse those municipalities that were unsuccessful in all three COMRIF Intakes the engineering fees that were paid in order to submit the COMRIF application."

07-36 That the Township of McKellar endorse the Town of Minto's resolution appealing to the Provincial Government "to take immediate action to exempt Royal Canadian Legions in Ontario from the Education portion of property taxes."

07-37 That the Township of McKellar instruct the Clerk to prepare a zoning by-law amendment for Part of Lot 19, Concession 1 (Barresi) as per application.
