05-329 That the Township of McKellar approve General Government Voucher #11 in the amount of $78,148.57 as follows:

General Government 36,573.73

Waste Services 22,017.91

Ambulance 7,651.62

05-330 That the Township of McKellar approve Road Voucher #11 in the amount of $69,677.28.

05-331 That the Township of McKellar accept the quote of R. Fleming Windows and Doors in the amount of $8,791.96 plus applicable tax for the supply and installation of handicapped doors as per quote.

05-332 That the Township of McKellar transfer the Ontario Fire Services Grant in the amount of $50,000.00 to the Fire Department capital reserve.

05-334 WHEREAS, the Liberal party promised during the 2003 election campaign to increase funding to long term care homes by $6,000 per resident per annum;

AND WHEREAS, funding for direct care and services to residents was increased in 2004 by $3.49 on average, along with an increase of $0.75 identified in 2005, with the expectation that homes increase the level of staffing;

AND WHEREAS, funding for direct care and services to residents was increased in 2005 by $1.01, an increase of 1.5 percent which falls short of inflationary costs for long term care homes;

AND WHEREAS, these combined increases represent $1,916.25 or less than a third of the government's $6,000 promise;

AND WHEREAS, significant investment is needed now to meet the immediate needs of residents;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the Township of McKellar urge this government to increase the per diem to residents of long term care homes in the fiscal year 2006/07 by $4,083.75 per resident, thereby fulfilling its election promise made in 2003.
